If you listen to the right wing noise machine Barack Obama is just an empty suit who can read a teleprompter. He is an elitist who lacks the common touch. His inexperience is dangerous in a "time of war". He is a socialist who will destroy our way of life. Instead of wondering why Obama does not lead in some useless summer poll by more, I wonder why McCain cannot close the deal on this risky inexperienced socialist who happens to be black.
It is no wonder CBS is last in the evening news. I sure the hell don't watch it. If this whole cover up had been an Obama cover up, we would hear about it for the next two weeks. Is it my imagination or do Democrats have to run a flawless campaign while the GOP gets a free pass?
I have given up on watching almost all evening news, I randomly will watch the first 10 minutes of NBC to see what "Dumbed Down" America is being exposed to by the corporations and the Kool Aid they want the public to drink. I have watched John McCain get away with gaffe after gaffe and nobody covers his incompetence and the fact that his mind has obviously slowed down (repectively) with his age.
John McCain has slowly erroded Obama's lead in the electoral math where Obama had almost a 100pt. electoral projected lead a couple of months ago.
The bottom line, the media is manipulating the public just like they have since George W. Bush won the first and second time, Just like they did when we went into Iraq, and just like they are now....
If you check my diary history here, you'll see several on how the administration and their propaganda machine is reading from a prepared script re: "let's attack Iran".
Well today there are several new sources claiming that Bush will attack Iran before his term is out. One of them says he's going to do it especially if a Democrat wins the nomination. But the other is Rush Limbaugh, boasting of special insider knowledge:
Today on his radio show, Rush Limbaugh boasted about his insider access and told a caller that important Bush donors had assured him the President would attack Iran soon ...

Now, let me be damnably clear for all the Free Republic trolls out there:
I do not advocate assassinating John McCain or anyone else. I hope McCain gets to live a long, happy retirement on his wife's beer money in whatever super-rich Arizona gated community he chooses to inhabit after losing the presidential election and choosing not to run again for the Senate. This is strictly a what-if, alternate timeline diary taking Trotta's "joke" and turning it inside out.
This is going to be a brief diary but I think this video clip should be spread around to show how truly vicious those on the far right truly are and how accommodating Fox News is to this extremism.
Today on Fox News Channel, Liz Trotta, was asked to comment on the Hillary RFK statement. Here is the part that should simply make any decent person feel like vomiting or breaking something, one of the two:
Sure, she's not the first to call Obama "Osama" but I'm guessing she's the first on a national cable news network to openly state that it'd be great if both Osama and Obama could both be killed.
As you continue to speak to the voters as if they were children, I would like to point out one very obvious and blatent mistake you are making.
Please don't send out pundits, reporters, or special guests who are millionaires to empathize the point of the "blue collar worker", "working person" or "common man."
What pisses people off more is when some "suit" as we like to call them, comes on television and stresses what goes on in middle America as if you knew what it was like.
This diary is about current events, but also about a long, troubling history of media distortions of Democrats as individuals and as a party. Indulge me as I review a diary I wrote in January of 2007 that it relates to events -- troubling events -- happening in Pennsylvania this week. If you care about the damage right-wing media outlets can do to the Democratic Party, I encourage you to join me below the fold.
How does this go? Barack Obama made a history-making speech, but Americans are too stupid, too set in their ways, and Democrats are too much like the rest of America for it to matter. Oh, yeah, and despite that speech, because America's such a disappointingly unfair place, not enough people will read or watch the speech, or take it for the bracing critique, but loving, Christian defense of Obama and Wright's association.
Oh yeah, and the Republicans are going to jump all over this and all the rural, white ethnic and southern voters are going to abandon Obama in response. Or maybe it wasn't political enough. Never mind that it successfully redefined the political argument on race for many.
Have you heard enough? I'm going to pick up the folks making these arguments by the shirt front (at least those on our side) and slap some sense into you.
I found this to be quite interesting. If McCain cannot unite the GOP than Hillary sure will. It is already beginning. Keep in mind Hillary also wants to debate Obama on Fox news (legitimizing their propaganda. For you Hillary Supporters (if she wins the canidate) don't say we (Obama supporters) didn't warn you.
RUSH: I'm dead serious about considering this. I mean, you may think this
Ari Fleischer's group Freedom's Watch is back in the limelight and will is the neocon's answer to gain momentum in blogosphere to counter Blogs such as the Moveon.org, MY DD, the Kos etc. They were the group that put out $15,000,000 to help Bush retain support for Iraq.
Essentially the internet has the neocons worried and they are desperate to gain a foothold into the blogosphere by advertising on a major network like NBC. If you hadn't been following the story, Freedom Watch was going to use our troops in Iraq (like they use 9/11) to promote their website and drive viewership. NBC had initally refused basically calling them too "political". Then the right wing noise machine went on attack, with Fox news leading the way. Watch this hit piece, the transparency and underline threats are incredible. The threats were directed at General electric. If the military idustrial complex (who supports groups like Freedom's watch) can lean on General Electric's war contracts, they can strong arm NBC as it is a subsidiary of General electric...
I just turned on the TV and was flipping channels and CNN and MSNBC are carrying Mitt Romney's speech LIVE.
Yes, they are carrying the speech, apparently in its entirety, LIVE.
Like it's some kind of "Big Deal" to America. It's not. It's just some wanna-be politician trying to b.s. his way into office.
Can someone tell me how this is NOT breaking campaign finance law?
This is a FREE CAMPAIGN COMMERCIAL FOR ROMNEY. A DONATION. FROM MAJOR NEWS CORPORATIONS. TWO OF THEM! (heck, I didn't even check Foks News, so it's probably three!)
Imagine if Boeing gave Romney his own 767 to fly around in. THAT'S what this is equivalent to.
One thing that's been a universal theme here and at other "reality-based" blogs the past few years has been the utter shock and awe we have all felt upon seeing the brazen lying by the mainstream corporate media.
Almost every day you can find the most infuriating examples of how they have been constantly lying to the American people, at the behest of their corporate "management" (read: neo-cons and Republican cronies). There's plenty of blame to go around, of course, but how things got to this disgusting level of propaganda isn't the point I'm pursuing here.
Because the big question has been "how do we stop them?"
The ubiquitous answer is "well, you can't stop them, because they're protected by the First Amendment."
Well guess what? There are limits to the First Amendment, and we all know what they are. Follow me behind for how we can make this work.
Last night, around 10 pm PT, I decided to check and see what the MSM was reporting on the Giuliani scandal. I abhor CNN already, but thought if any site would be a fairly typical indicator of the corporate media's bias, it would be they.
There wasn't a thing about it on their front page. Not one. I decided to go over to MSNBC.com, home of Olberman, the only person telling the truth in the MSM these days, and it was the same deal. Nothing.
As most of you know, yesterday Glenn Beck decided to sully our national, taxpayer-owned airwaves with the following moronic statement about people who are losing their homes and lives in the California wildfires:
I think there is a handful of people who hate America. Unfortunately for them, a lot of them are losing their homes in a forest fire today.
The liberal blogs piped up about this, noting that not only is this an evil thing to say, but he's also wrong since the areas most affected are in Republican-led districts. For some reason the right wing can't get it through their heads that the state that elected Reagan and Schwarzenegger isn't all Haight-Ashbury hippies and Berkeley stoners.
And now he is getting a messy, bitter, public divorce. We cannot let such personal humiliation go unnoticed, not when it comes to Richard Mellon Scaife. Details after the jump.
In today's NY Times, Paul Krugman provides an excellent summary and critique of the Republicans' despicable and failed attempt to slime a 12-year-old boy who suffered brain damage from a car accident. Krugman refutes all of the GOP's lies and distortions of the Frost family, which everyone one dkos is already well-versed on, so I won't repeat that here. But the best part of the column is how Krugman calls out CNN for being nothing more than a PR arm for the right-wing smear maching, as well as how he rightly slams down Michelle Malkin and Mitch McConnel for their roles in the Sliming Graeme Frost campaign, and exposes how the right-wing smear machine works these days.
A number of people have made the point that the Frost family, whose son Graeme went on the air to rebut President Bush's SCHIP mendacity and was subsequently attacked by right wing bloggers and talking heads, are actually a conservative Republican wet dream. E.J. Dione does it today:
Conservatives claim to be in favor of stable families, small businesses, hard work, private schools, investment and homeownership. So why in the world are so many on the right attacking the family of Graeme Frost?
Why? A number of folks say that it's because the right wing is always in war mode, always ready to attack anyone -- even a 12 year old -- who questions their political positions. Others say it's because they are just meanies, like Dionne says. Others are just perplexed and use this to demonstrate the idiocy of the right wing noise machine.
So the freepers are out to "destroy" a working family for daring to support a popular Democratic program. Today, I show you how to counterattack -- and kick their ass.
