McCain Campaign Responds, Digs In Deeper On CBS Gaffe

Tue Jul 22, 2008 at 08:51:40 PM PDT

The McCain campaign responded to questions about his gaffe on the CBS Evening News on the timeline of the Sunni Awakening and it was reported by Ed Henry on AC 360 tonight.

The surge strategy that was supported by John McCain and opposed by Barack Obama was responsible for the reduction in violence we have all seen over the last year and a half. If Barack Obama had had his way, the Sheiks who started the Awakening would have been murdered at the hands of al Qaeda, and the US forces would have already left Iraq in defeat.

Watch the panel at AC 360 try to spin this one in the video below the fold.

Obama at the Compassion Forum Video Diary

Sun Apr 13, 2008 at 07:54:30 PM PDT

In case you missed it on CNN, or just wanted to share the video with others, here is the video of the second half of tonight's forum on CNN with Barack Obama. It seems the media had its canned responses ready for their coverage after this was over and couldn't wait to get back to blathering on about Bitter-Gate again, and pretty well pretended the forum didn't even happen since I believe Barack did a pretty good job of countering their talking points. So how do we counter that as citizens? Let people who did not watch the forum see for themselves what happened if CNN wants to distort it after the fact, and make their own judgements. Sharing these videos is one way to do that.

Here's Part 1:

Lou Dobbs Tonight Attacks Obama Video Diary Updated w/Hillary Response Video

Sat Apr 12, 2008 at 12:06:31 PM PDT

Kitty Pilgrim on Lou Dobbs Tonight decided to air what amounted to a one hour hit piece on Barack Obama over the "bitter voters" comments. I put together a video mash up of some of the commentary that was made over the course of that one hour show so people can watch some of it for themselves. If you don't care for what happened during the April 11th airing, you can contact the show here:
Lou Dobbs Tonight.

Apparently the producers and staff of the Lou Dobbs Tonight decided that this was so important that there was not another story that was worth covering for the ENTIRE one hour broadcast.

Updated:
Hillary Clinton went on CNN's Ballot Bowl today to weigh in on this, and called Obama's remarkd "elitist".

Videos of Pilgrim on Dobbs show and of Sen. Clinton's remarks below the fold.

It's Real Time With Bill Maher Video Diary

Fri Apr 04, 2008 at 10:42:43 PM PDT

It's time for another Real Time with Bill Maher video diary. Tonight's show was pretty good until they brought out former Bill Frist sychophant Amy Holmes who tried to talk over everyone with her wing nut talking points on abstinence only sex ed. Why Maher feels the need to trot this gal out as a "Real Time Real Reporter" is beyond me. I can think of a number of terms for what Amy does, but "reporter" doesn't come to mind. Ironically when the panel discussion got into the trouble with our corporate owned media, all I could think of is will someone please tell Amy Holmes that she is part of that problem. Here's tonight's opening:

It's Real Time With Bill Maher Video Diary

Fri Mar 28, 2008 at 10:40:16 PM PDT

Thank goodness Bill left the wing nuts like Kingston at home tonight and gave us a really good show and not one where I wanted to throw something at the TV. Tavis Smiley took Maher to task for his lack of knowledge about some of the things Martin Luther King had to say about war, and John Cusack seemed to put out a bit more "truthiness" than Maher could handle with his very good interview on just how horrid this Bush administration and its privitization scheme has been for our democracy. The panel also got into a very good discussion on how the media has attacked Rev. Wright, and has given Pat Buchanan a complete pass for the statements he's made on the air and in his op-ed.

I also wanted to give some kudos to Upper West for writing about this show tonight first here and Tavis' comments on MLK: Maher -- Tavis eloquent on MLK and Wright.

Weekend Political Shows Roundup Video Diary

Sun Mar 23, 2008 at 10:07:32 PM PDT

Chris Matthews needs the masses to ask him to watch this video FOX Lies!!! Is Rev. Wright .Support Barack Obama since he apparently doesn't know it exists, and he'd like to know if John McSame should run on National Security or not. John Kyl thinks that the Democratic Congress has acted like Hoover, and apparently black people are a new high risk group for loans, Chuck Todd admits to the media bias shown by the press for McBush, Lindsey Graham is really good at not answering questions since he's allowed to fillibuster instead of actually having to answer to anything, Hagel gives George Stephanopolous a piece of his mind, Hume thinks McCranky just had a "senior moment", Peggy Noonan thinks Richardson looks like Rod Steiger in Dr. Zhivago, and apparently Pat Buchanan doesn't know the difference between gay people and pedophiles. And Bill Maher had a few things to say as well.

Terry McAuliffe Refuses to Answer Bill Maher's Question

Fri Mar 07, 2008 at 11:33:08 PM PDT

On tonight's Real Time with Bill Maher, Bill asked Terry McAuliffe this question: It looks like this is going all the way. Now if when we get the last primary which I believe is Puerto Rico...what if Barack Obama, or conversely Hillary is ahead in popular vote, delegates, and states won? Is that enough even if they're short of the 2025... delegates you actually need to confirm the nomination, if they've won popular vote, states and delegates, is that enough if one of them wins that for the other guy to say, okay, you've got it?

Video below with McAuliffe's answer.

Real Time Video Diary: Blogga' Bill Please!

Sat Feb 23, 2008 at 12:39:19 AM PDT

New Rule for Bill Maher. HBO talk show hosts who want to talk about politics on their show should actually have to read a few blogs before they write posts at the HuffPo. Then you won't be embarrassing the rest of us by giving right wing liars a pass when they spout propoganda that you don't know how to counter on your show. Please Bill do us a favor. Either read up, or have someone on your show who does when you bring on guests like David Frum and Jack Kingston. I'm begging you. Please.

Thu Feb 14, 2008 at 10:26:29 PM PDT

Super Tuesday Speeches

Just a quick diary for anyone that missed it. This is MSNBC's coverage of McCain's speech, and of Obama's. The contrast couldn't be starker. Videos posted below.

The McLaughlin Group: The Economy Tanking

Sun Jan 20, 2008 at 03:22:48 PM PDT

The panel of Mort Zuckerman, Eleanor Clift, Monica Crowley, and Pat Buchanan on this Friday's McLaughlin Group sat down for a discussion on whether our economy is tanking and whether or not it's in part due to Iraq.

Jeff Gannon/Guckert: Nothing to See Here I'm Just Pimping My New Book

Sun Dec 02, 2007 at 09:45:26 PM PDT

Apparently Mr. Gannon has a book to sell and is planning on making the college tour to promote it. He also had this to say when asked on C-SPAN's Book TV about the male escort scandal:

"Well, there's not much to say about that. You know it, after two and a half years, there's nothing to it. I mean there's a lot of, of rumor and Internet gossip and you know "responsible journalists" paid some attention to that in the beginning and afterwards they decided there's nothing there. So."

Chris Matthews Takes a Cheap Shot at Gore and More Video Diary

Mon Nov 26, 2007 at 08:10:27 PM PDT

Tonight Matthews once again prooved that the sorry excuse for the press in this country still loves to love Bush, and loves to hate Al Gore. When "reporting" on Gore's visit to the White House today, Matthews took this cheap shot at him:

Someone tell me who's the stupid one here. Seems Matthews is carrying water for Maureen Dowd and the rest of the beltway bubble heads from way back:
Vanity Fair: Going After Gore

Tonight's Debate Video: In Case You Missed It

Sat Nov 17, 2007 at 07:41:14 PM PDT

I thought these were a couple of the more memorable segments from tonight's debate. I just wanted to post this for anyone who could not get the on line stream to work or who missed it. Thoughts welcomed on either video and this one is being kept short and sweet and just put out there to share what happened tonight if you weren't around to watch it yourself. I may add some more of the debate videos later if I have time for your viewing pleasure.

Give 'Em Hell Bernie! and Shame on You Lieberman!

Thu Nov 08, 2007 at 08:45:15 PM PDT

After watching tonight's pre-confirmation debates tonight I just thought I'd share with all of you here one of the bravest speeches I've seen in a while followed by one of the most shameless ones given by our two "Independent" Senators. Which one should have another letter behind their name we all know and we know what that letter is.

Bernie tells the Democrats it's time to stand up for the Constitution and for the rule of law and to start pretending they are a co-equal branch of government with some rights and Droopy-Dog Liebermann pretends he doesn't know that waterboarding is illegal or at least which branch of government it's illegal for and tries to claim that those who oppose Mukasey are just playing politics. Shame on you Joe and good for you Bernie!
